Our Founders
Jhannai and Melika, a Caribbean and a Ghanaian met in 2016 in the UK for their undergraduate degrees at the University of Leicester. As two young black women conquering the struggles of university – they became great friends.
Unintentionally, Melika shared her love for Ghanaian black soap and shea butter creams which Jhannai, a Caribbean, fell in love with.
From there, Jhannai believed it wasn’t enough for only Ghanaians to know about the ingredients Ghana has been blessed with and that the world deserved to experience its goodness.
And this birthed BODA.

Our ingredients are ethically sourced and extracted by our Boda women who are based in a village Chana in the Northern region of Ghana.
We guarantee to buy every harvest and pay our BODA women a fair rate so they can focus on producing the best Shea possible.This has helped us create employment for over 50 Ghanaians across our entire supply chain. Considering the unemployment rate in Ghana, this is something we are proud of and our team is constantly growing.
